Making a bicycle saddle tool roll

October 27, 2013 by Morgan Crossley

I love the minimalist look of a tool roll tucked neatly under a saddle. Previously I was using a simple tool roll that was just a flat piece of fabric wrapped around tools like a burrito and then secured with a toe strap, but I wanted something a bit classier. For this version I took inspiration from the tool roll made by YNOT cycling.

I really need to work on my sewing skills but this was fun to make. They'll get better with time and practice. If you want to make one you just need:

- Sturdy fabric (canvas, cordura, denim etc. I found mine at Mood fabrics in NYC)

 - The red border is called bias tape

- sewing machine

For the strap:

- webbing and a buckle or a pedal toe strap
